Legend has it that Napoleon Bonaparte's infamous cavalry, otherwise known as the Hussars, perfected the art of Sabrage at the beginning of the 19th century—a technique used to open a Champagne bottle with a saber or sword. Julian White, who is a member of our Call My Wine Bluff team and who works with The Oxford Wine Company and our award winning Philippe Brugnon Champagne, is the Ambassador in the United Kingdom of the Confrérie du Sabre d'Or - the organization which promotes the art of sabrage.
